I spotted this the other day and text my Aunt who grew up on Townsend Street in the late 60’s early 70’s. I got the following message: ‘Sharkey was a shoe mender. Crean became a butcher’s under a different name and Montgomery was a veg shop with fish on Friday. I remember so well, standing in line for a Ray.’ I hope that shines a bit of light. I was delighted with the text and thought I would share.

That’s lovely Paul! Especially the detail about fish on Fridays! Thanks 🙂
Great bit of History there Paul. I’ve been meaning to google this forever as I pass by it regularly on my way to Sandymount
