Hawkins Street runs from the south side of the Rosie Hackett Bridge to Townsend Street. It is a busy street with many bus routes and since 2017, the LUAS cross city has travelled southbound on Hawkins Street.
The street is undergoing major change – the whole block from Townsend Street, Hawkins Street, Poolbeg Street and Tara Street is being demolished to make way for a mixed-use office scheme at the site.
This post is part of the weekly ‘Streets of Dublin’ series that I am doing in 2019. A new post will be published each weekend.
Each week will focus on a new street & will take a look behind its signs. If there’s a street that you’d like to contribute to, please get in touch.
