My Mother worked at the Dolphin Hotel where she met my Father who was decorating at the time, the result was me born in 1947, and Six more after me, a great woman my hero who died July 2013
When Flann O’Brien’s second novel, The Third Policeman, was rejected by Longman’s in London, he told his friends in Dublin he’d lost the manuscript in the Dolphin Hotel one night, rather than admitting the truth.
I started working as a commie waiter June 1965 in the grill room. If I remember correctly the chef who did the steaks on the charcoal grill was called John and the head waiter was Enright can’t remember first name.

Thank you for sharing this memory Brendan. It’s great to hear the real stories behind some of the signs. Your mother sounds like a great woman.
